Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani were two of the biggest releases of the year 2015. Both films were one of the highest grossers that year. But which movie dominated which?
Both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani are big budget movies and it was very risky especially for Sanjay Leela Bhansali to release Bajirao Mastani against Dilwale when so much was at stake. But clearly, both the movies were confident about their content and the clash happened.
Dilwale clearly had the advantage in terms of Star power and the film took a much better opening than Bajirao Mastani. But the results didn’t show that clearly. Because as the days progressed Bajirao started taking lead and came out as the movie with higher domestic collections.
SRK has complete dominance in the overseas market. Dilwale did well overseas but could not match up to SRK’s previous best performers. Also, Bajirao did very well overseas considering Ranveer Singh is not so popular internationally. And the final gap between Bajirao and Dilwale Worldwide Collections was small.
