As telecom companies in India have reduced the mobile data charges, the market of online video streaming is rising continuously with the growth of massive number of subscribers. There is another reason for people looking for online platforms for watching videos instead of watching them on TV.

In current times, people are in so much hustle bustle that they don’t have enough time to watch TV. And so they adopted multimedia entertainment through online platforms. This post is on five online HD video streaming services which gained a lot of popularity in India.

Netflix

Netflix mainly streams TV show and Netflix originals on almost all the operating system such as window 10, iOX, Android, PlayStation, etc. It offers the first one month streaming free of cost for new users and near about Rs. 450 per month charges further after the completion of one month. A new subscriber of Netflix can watch Game of Thrones online free or any other show or movie for free in the first month of subscription.

Prime Video

Prime video is recently launched in India by e-commerce giant Amazon. Prime Video and Netflix are the best alternatives to each other. Primarily 52% online video streaming market is captured by Prime Video and Netflix together in India. It streams movies and Indian stand up shows on all the operating system. In India, Prime Video is getting wide popularity due to streaming HD video of TV shows, web series, Hollywood and Bollywood movies.

Hotstar

Hotstar streams live cricket matches, online movies, and Indian daily soap. It is one of the most popular websites in India. Its popularity arises due to the collection of all seasons’ episodes of all popular serials. Hoststar covers all the old and new episodes of Star India network. During IPL and world cup tournaments, Hotstar beats prime video and Netflix together single-handedly. In December 2017, Hotstar witnessed 75 million active users for the month. Whereas Netflix bagged 5 million and Prime video managed 11 million viewers. One more interesting thing about Hotstar is that it does not ask for signing up before allowing to watch videos.

Voot

Voot streaming website is owned by Viacom 18 network, and it streams TV shows and web series, telecasted on the network’s TV channel Colors, MTV and Nickelodeon. Initially, service of Voot in India was limited to only TV shows, but later the streaming service also added a vast collection of movies. Currently, Voot is focusing on kids entertainment comedy content such as Mr. Bean, Pokemon, Powerpuff Girls, etc. Voot also does not ask its visitors to sign up before watching videos.

Jio Cinema

With the launch of Jio telecom network in India, the company has also launched a free video streaming mobile application, called Jio Cinema. The app is ideal for streaming movies in Hindi and English language with subtitles. Apart from movies, Jio cinema also streams popular web series. One drawback of Jio cinema video streaming service is that it is only available to Jio sim card holders.

Besides these, there are other sources too, that are dedicated to a particular kind of TV show or movie. For example, https://watchgotonline.org. People watch the episodes of their favorite show, GOT, for free on such sources as well. And with this, the era of streaming services are taking over the traditional TV viewing experience.
