Gold movie released last Wednesday on the eve of Independence Day. The story of the film sets at the time of British India. Gold is all about winning the Gold medal in the London Olympics by an independent Indian Hockey team. Apart from the emotions of patriotism and sports, there is a perfect mixture of drama in the film. Gold is a content film and hence the script of the film plays an important role for such films.
Gold stars Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Kunal Kapoor. Akshay Kumar is seen in a different avatar and appeared as a Bengali person in the film. Mouni Roy, the famous tv actress has made her debut in the film world. The film was speculated to be inspired from Shahrukh Khan’s Chakde India. However, Reema Kagti, the director of the film has refused to agree to it. Here is Gold movie review on various grounds:
Acting
Akshay Kumar has done a complete justice to his character in the film. He has molded himself excellently in a wide variety of situations. Mouni Roy plays a small but effective role. Her character complements and balances the required emotions in the film. The other actors namely, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, and Kunal Kapoor have done their part well. The thing to notice in the film is, every actor has got an importance in the film and a right balance is there to enjoy the act of each cast.
Story
Since it is a content film so the story of the film carries most of the responsibility to make it a success. Reema Kagti has done a fabulous job and embedded every sort of feelings according to the theme of the film. You cannot say it is a patriotic or sports film as it also has an element of drama also. The way the time of British India is shown in the movie is simply mind-blowing. Despite knowing the end result, one would not move from one’s seat till the end.
Director
The director Reema Kagti has made a wonderful effort to keep the film interesting till the end. Although you may find a slow speed in the first half, it would be an interesting subject to watch it in the latter half. Every element has been included in a limited amount which makes it an appropriate film to watch for all age groups. Also, every actor has got a chance to come in-front which means the cast has been utilised well in the film.
Music
The background score has been intelligently selected and coordinates with the theme of the film. Also, the songs have been chosen to narrate various emotions in the film.
Overall, we can say that the film holds well on every ground and one must watch this film in their nearby theaters. Meanwhile, let us have a look at what other critics are saying about the film.
