Movie Reception

Awarapan received positive reviews from the critics but it failed to open well at the box office. The film faced a stiff competition from the other releases, Apne and Aap Ka Suroor which impacted the business of the film severely. After a poor opening, it showed a ray of hope by the end of its first week but later fell badly in the second week. It ended its journey at the domestic box office at Rs. 8 crores and could not even recover its budget.
