Barfi opened with an excellent opening at the box office and it witnessed a good growth in its first weekend. Due to its strong-hold, it earned over Rs. 30 crores in just three days. Barfi also held well on the weekdays and its total reached over Rs. 55 crores in the theatres.
It also held strong in the second as well as the third week which ensured a lifetime earning of over Rs. 100 crores in the domestic market. Barfi turned out to be the first film of Ranbir Kapoor to enter Rs. 100 crores club. It became one of the highest grossing Hindi films of 2012. In the overseas, it also did well and earned over Rs. 50 crores which took its worldwide total over Rs. 170 crores.
