Synopsis

Dangal is based on real life of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two wrestler daughters’ struggle towards glory at the Commonwealth Games while combating societal oppression. MS Phogat taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat and made them champions and role models to a lot of girls.

Dangal is one of the highest grosser film Indian film industry. It opened with the second highest non-holiday opening day collection of that time and easily earned over Rs. 100 crores in the theatres. In the second week also, it didn't show any sign of falling down at the box office and also grossed over Rs. 100 crores.

The strong content of the film managed to appeal on a large scale with the overseas audience and it received a humongous response from all over the world. It also set the record to become the highest grossing Hindi film of all time. Dangal's worldwide collection exceeds Rs. 500 crores and became the highest earner in the international market.

On its release in China, the film's worldwide collection crossed Rs. 2000 crores and it is the highest worldwide Indian grosser of all time.
