Gunday took the benefit Valentine's day on its opening and collected an excellent amount on its first day. The positive reviews from the critics as well as the positive word of mouth of the audience helped the film to earn over Rs. 40 crores in its first three days.
Even the hold of the film remained strong on the weekdays and it crossed Rs. 55 crores mark in its first week. It witnessed a decent drop in the second week and managed to earn over Rs. 10 crores. However, the fall in the third week was big which only allowed it to earn near Rs. 2 crores.
Gunday ended its journey at the box office with a lifetime total of Rs. 74 crores in the domestic market. It also held well in the overseas and crossed Rs. 100 crores mark in the worldwide collection. Gunday became the 10th highest grosser of 2014.
