Koi Mil Gaya is one of the successful films of Indian film industry. It got positive reviews from the critics and also received a positive word of mouth from the audience. The powerful performance of the film on the weekdays, low drops in the consecutive weeks helped the film to earn an excellent amount in its pocket.

In its lifetime, Koi Mil Gaya collected near Rs. 50 crores in the domestic theatres and took its worldwide total to a value over Rs. 80 crores. Due to its success at the box office, the filmmakers released many sequels to the film with the base name, Krrish.

  • Initially, it was titled as Koi Aap Sa.
  • A special screening of this film was organized for India's PM of that time.
  • Hrithik Roshan became the first actor to win both, Best Actor & Best Actor Critics Awards. After him, Amitabh Bachchan won for Black.
  • For the role of Hrithik's father, Rakesh Roshan approached Anil Kapoor & Rishi Kapoor. Later, he himself played the role on Rishi Kapoor's suggestion.
  • The specs wore by Hrithik is the same he wore in the first film.
  • For his role, he was asked to reduce his weight but he couldn't do so due to his other films. This problem was solved with his baggy clothes & some special effects.
