The film revolves around Sangoli Rayanna, an active freedom fighter from Karnataka in India. Till his death, he fought against the British. He was the chief of the army in the kingdom of Kittur, which was ruled by Kittur Rani Chennamma. The British captures Kittur and imprison Rayanna. After his release, how Rayanna devices a plan to defeat the British is the story.
