Akshay Kumar & Emraan Hashmi’s Selfiee has failed to deliver the kind of performance the audience had expected from it. Now, after a poor reception of the film, it has no chance in its second week. On the other hand, the holdover release “Pathaan” has been outstanding throughout its journey till now.

You can’t even think of a comparison between the two films as these are poles apart in every way. Let’s study how Selfiee fared over its first week. Also, I will throw light on the strong run of Pathaan.

Selfiee is Out of Show in its First Week

Selfiee has completed its first week at the box office and its show isn’t appealing at all. It didn’t get the right start and it didn’t manage to recover well after that. Now, after the complete rejection of the film, there is no hope left for it in its second week.

Akshay Kumar in Selfie

It is quite disturbing for the film as well as Bollywood as the film industry is going through a tough phase. The need of the hour is a good performance of its films. But it isn’t the case with many Hindi films post-pandemic.

Here is the day-wise collection of the film in the first week:

  • Friday – ₹2.60 crore
  • Saturday – ₹3.75 crore
  • Sunday – ₹3.85 crore
  • Monday – ₹1.15 crore
  • Tuesday – ₹1 crore
  • Wednesday – ₹1 crore
  • Thursday – ₹0.90 crore
  • Total – ₹14.25 crores

Second Friday Collection is Likely to be On the Same Line

The sad reality of Selfiee’s show is it failed to perform well despite no competition in the theatres. Now, there is no new release this Friday but still, the film’s 8th day collection will be less than ₹1 crore.

Selfiee has missed the benefit of a big collection due to the Holi period. This week, the audience is focusing on just one film – Pathaan. It is because there is no new release available and SRK’s Pathaan is dominating the holdover releases.

Pathaan is super strong even in its fifth week. How? The evidence is its 40% drop from the previous week. It really is a big indicator for any movie to show its prominence in the theatres.

Shahrukh Khan in Pathaan

Its total collection after five weeks has already crossed the mark of ₹510.65 crores. Even when the new releases were there at the box office, Pathaan didn’t show any sign of slowing down. And it witnessed good growth over the fourth and fifth weekends.

The magic happened when the film didn’t show any drop for the last three weekdays as it collected ₹75 lacs. Now, the story is clear for the 6th week. Pathaan is going to rule because of no other film.

Next week, there will be a new film but Pathaan’s performance post-Holi will depend on how the new one performs in the theaters. Pathaan has come close to Baahubali: The Conclusion. And there is a strong battle going on between the two films on the basis of their total collections.

So, this was all I had to say on this subject. Clearly, the winner is Pathaan and the story will remain the same in the sixth week as well.
