This serial revolves around the story of a beautiful & kind-hearted girl, Gauri. She belongs to a Bengali middle-class family. Her father is the best friend of Mehan Kapoor who belongs to a rich Punjabi family. One day, Mehan Kapoor offers Gauri to marry his son. While he talks about his arrogant son Shiv, Gauri & her family thinks that he is talking about Shashank & she is mistakenly married to Shashank.

Karam Apna Apna starts with a simple yet interesting story of a Bengali girl, Gauri. Further, her story becomes complicated after she gets married in a Punjabi family. After some episodes, this serial becomes quite boring & repetitive. Later, there comes many major twists & turns in the plot & the story becomes interesting again. Apart from the storyline, all the characters either main or the supporting, are entertaining.
