The new year has not yet witnessed any good new film. Except 1921, all the releases of last week failed to collect even decent box office collection. On this Friday also, the new films namely Vodka Diaries, Nirdosh, and My Birthday Song not managed to get a good number of footfalls on their opening day. Let’s have a look at Vodka Diaries first-day Collection and how other two films stood at the box office. Also, we will analyse 1921 8th day collection.
Among all the last week releases, 1921 remained comparatively better than Kaalakaandi and Mukkabaaz. On its 2nd Friday, 1921 earned more than other new releases on the same day. However, it also slowed down yesterday. If it had performed well on second Friday, then we could expect it to gather more on its second weekend. But now seeing the trending of the film, it is expected to earn around Rs.16 crores in its lifetime. Also, since Padmaavat is releasing on next Friday so all the holdover releases have got only this week’s time.
Among all the new releases on yesterday, only Vodka Diaries managed to make its presence felt. All the other releases failed to make themselves count on their first day. Also, they all faced stiff competition from Tiger Zinda Hai, which remained rock steady on its 5th Friday. All the new films namely Vodka Diaries, Nirdosh, and My Birthday Song failed to cross even the mark of Rs. 50000 on their maiden day.
Tiger Zinda Hai performed better than other new releases and made it difficult for the other films to attract footfalls to their theaters. The film collected Rs.0.78 crores on its 5th Friday, which means the film is going to gain more money over the weekend. It is expected to show its dominance over the entire 5th week on all other films.
However, it would not be possible for the film to cross the lifetime business of PK this week. Also, because of Padmaavat release on next week, it is expected to face stiff competition. So, it would be interesting to see how it competes with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.
