His last film could not open well and failed to cross even Rs. 2 crores mark on its opening day. However, Hindi film opened decently and did an excellent business at the box office. This film turned out to be a sleeper hit and is also performing exceptionally well in China. Except for Jazbaa, all the other movies mentioned above were low or decent in the opening.

Blackmail opened on a low note and could only get 10-12% occupancy in the morning shows. The film is a dark comedy and hence find it difficult to attract a big number of audience in the evening. It was released on more number of screens than Hichki and hence there was no significant growth in its footfalls with the passage of its first day.
