Kotikokkadu Movie Review: A Complete Entertainment Package

Kotikokkadu is the Telugu version of Kannada superhit Kotigobba 2. This movie stars Kiccha Sudeep, Nithya Menen, and Prakash Raj. Kotigobba 2 was released in August 2016. And since it was a huge blockbuster, makers decided to make its Telugu version as well. Today, this movie released at all the theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. And it has received very good opening on its first day.

The trailer of the movie is very exciting. Nithya Menen and Sudeep are 2 amazing superstars of South industry. So a great performance by these 2 actors is naturally expected. And this movie has truly proved their mettle. Kotikokkadu keeps the people engaged throughout the movie. So now, we will discuss the merits and demerits of this film.

Acting

Sudeep is a superstar of South cinema. And this movie has just proven that fact more efficiently. The movie revolves more around Sudeep and Nithya is relatively overshadowed. He is the USP of this movie. In this movie, he is pretending to be 2 different persons. And both of the roles are aptly played by the actor. Other than this, Prakash Raj is also a treat to watch. Whatever language he is given to play, he justifies his role with much ease.

Music

Songs and music are very important for any movie. And D. Imman makes his debut with the music of this movie. The music is great, and so are the songs.

Direction

The director Ravikumar has done a great deal with this movie. The epic one-liners, intriguing twists & turns, and action sequences, everything in this movie is perfectly timed. Ravikumar has mixed action, drama and humor content amazingly in this movie. But, the movie is a bit too long. 2 hrs and 34 minutes of movie time become too much for most of the people. In that respect, some unnecessary scenes or songs could have been cut down to make it more interesting.

Story & Script

With lots of interesting plots, the movie is a complete entertainment package. The movie has an ensemble cast, so everybody brings something new with them. But this story is based on centuries-old Robin Hood concept. So the story in itself does not bring any new thing to the table, rather the acting keeps people engaged.

Summary

Overall, Kotikokkadu is a purely commercial entertainment. Hence, a great movie to watch this weekend.
