Padman Advance Bookings Opens with Weak Response

After undergoing a delay of two weeks, Akshay Kumar’s Padman is finally hitting the theaters on this Friday. This film is based on a true story of a man named Arunachalam Muruganantham, who initiated a campaign against menstrual taboos in the society.

The previous movie of Akshay Kumar, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha did well at the box office and he received laurels for raising the social issue of awareness in the society. TEPK earned Rs. 125 crores at the box office and held well for a long time. Now, Padman is based on the menstrual hygiene of women and is expected to sail similar to TEPK.

Before its release, the film has received solid support from all the Bollywood actors and other famous personalities due to its interesting subject. Many actors have posted their photos with sanitary pads on the social media to spread awareness.

Padman Advance Booking opens to a poor response

Padman has opened to a weak response in advance bookings. But considering that Friday is not a holiday, the advance bookings weren’t supposed to be good in the first place. The film will totally be depending on bookings after the release of the film.

Since now it’s a solo release and Padmavat has already been in theaters for 2 weeks now, it will have the advantage of being a fresh film for the next 2 weeks. Basically, advance booking will not play any role in determining the success of this film.

Dependence on Word of Mouth

The film is going to depend heavily on word of mouth as this is not a typical masala entertainer. The film will be distributed to critics on Thursday and the reviews should be available on Friday morning itself, which will play a crucial role in the opening day collection for Padman.

As of now, Padman is looking at 5-8% of advance booking before the day of its release, which is a fine total for a film like this one. And we can expect around 30% occupancy in the morning shows and up to 65% by evening.
