Welcome to New York created a lot of buzz because of the presence of good actors and appearance of many famous actors as a cameo in the film. This is a comedy film and a very different one from other Bollywood releases. The storyline of the film is inspired from the Hollywood film, Pret-o-Porter. Welcome to New York revolves around IIFA event and displays scenes from the earlier seasons of this award category. The popularity of Diljit Dosanjh in the Indian film industry would benefit the film in attracting the audience. This film is also a test of Karan Johar as his last movie Bombay Velvet fared poorly at the box office.

Welcome to New York is in competition with the holdover releases and the new film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. SKTKS is of a similar genre as that of Welcome to New York so there will be a stiff competition between the two films at the box office. WTNY has not received good reviews from the critics. So now all its fate is in the hands of the audience. Since SKTKS belongs to a reputed franchise, it would be the first choice for the moviegoers.
