After witnessing the grand success of Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor is all set to work on his next project Batti Gul Meter Chalu. There would be two leading ladies opposite the actor in this film. Although the shooting has not been started yet, the female leads are very much excited about their parts. Shraddha Kapoor & Yami Gautam are the female leads opposite Shahid Kapoor.

According to some sources, the makers confirmed that Shraddha Kapoor will be the main lead. On the other hand, Yami Gautam also confirmed that her part is as important as the role of Shahid. Adding more, Yami also clarified that she will be portraying the character of a lawyer.

Shraddha Kapoor was not the first choice

Initially, there were some rumors that makers approached Katrina Kaif for the female lead. But, due to her busy schedule, the actress turned them down. Probably she was busy with her recent release Tiger Zinda Hai & her upcoming film, Zero. Then the filmmakers decided to take Shraddha Kapoor as the first lead. This will be the second time this actress will be seen sharing the screen with Shahid Kapoor. Earlier, they were seen romancing in Haider in the year 2014.

Yami Gautam is more excited

Yami Gautam expressed her excitement on working with Padmaavat superstar Shahid Kapoor. Moreover, she is more excited to play such characters which encourage & promote women empowerment in India. As her role is related to legal studies which she has done in real life too, she is emotionally attached to her role.

The actress is also glad to work with Shree Narayan Singh, the director of this film. According to her, this director always come up with a message-driven film such as Toilet-Ek Prem Katha. This time, she will be promoting more awareness. She also added that through this film, she could show her versatility to the audience.
