Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and Padman are two consecutive films of Akshay Kumar with a subtle difference. Both the films are based on a social issue. TEPK focused on the need for toilets in the rural world and Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan. Padman describes the prevalent menstrual taboos in the Indian society.
TEPK was comedy genre movie but Padman is simply a content-based film. And TEPK arrived at the time when there was no big film at the box office and other films were performing poorly. So it received a good response at the box office. But Padman underwent a postponement of two weeks following a way for Padmaavat.
Talking about the box office collection, TEPK earned good figure on an opening day and showed humongous growth over the weekend. However, Padman collected decent earning on the first day and but made come back on the next two days. But on the weekdays TEPK showed remarkable show and also get benefitted due to holidays on the weekdays.
