After Baahubali 2 whipped up a storm at the box office, the movie industry seemed to have taken a gloomy face. None of the other movies could cross even Rs. 200 Crores net figure this year. But finally, the Bollywood film industry got its smiles back. Judwaa 2 emerges as one of the best openers (Rs. 60 Crores Weekend 1) in India. Even in the international market, it managed the collection of Rs. 20 Crores in its 1st weekend. Its first-week total business was close to Rs. 100 Crores. The pan India success proved that the well made entertainer movies can never go out of fashion.

Even with the release of Chef, Judwaa 2 refused to slow down. Being the remake of Hollywood blockbuster with the same name, and featuring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role, there were a lot of expectations from this movie. But it failed a big time. Judwaa 2 continues to dominate the shows and is expected to remain the same till Diwali. The long holiday period and lack of very good movies have given a strong boost to the film. But this long holiday season should not be given full credit. The genre of the movie has a major role to play in its success.

So far, before the release of Judwaa 2, Badrinath Ki Dulhania was the major blockbuster of Varun Dhawan as the solo actor. Judwaa 2 broke all his previous records and emerged as his highest solo grosser till date. It crossed BKD’s total lifetime box office collection (Rs. 116.60 Crores), earning a total of Rs. 119 Crores in just 11 days. If we look at all his movies, Judwaa 2 holds the 2nd position in the list of Varun Dhawan’s highest grossing Bollywood movies after Dilwale, which was a multi-starrer movie.

With this movie, Varun Dhawan had taken a giant leap. Stepping into the shoes of Salman Khan is not a cakewalk. But with its success, he has proved that nothing is unstoppable when the determination is at its peak. “Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko shiddat se chaho … to poori kainath use tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.” Varun Dhawan’s track record has been fabulous. This movie is his 9th consecutive success. He has come way ahead of his contemporaries today. Along with him, David Dhawan has also proved that the entertainment-driven films can never get old. Indeed, laughter is the best medicine.

The movie is creating new benchmarks at the Bollywood box office. Going by its success, the day is not far away when it would become the 2nd highest grossing Indian movie of 2017, after Baahubali 2. Soon it would surpass the Bollywood Box Office Collection of Raees (Rs. 139 Crores Nett) and TEPK (Rs. 133.60 Crores Nett).
