Produced by Dhanush, Rajinikanth’s Kaala is soaring high for its pre-release business. 2018 will turn out to be a very fruitful year for Rajnikanth, with 2 mega releases Kaala and 2.0. Kaala was earlier supposed to release in mid-August, and 2.0 was to be released in April. But now, Kaala will release on April 27th. And 2.0 is postponed with no final release date yet.
There are still 2 months to go for movie’s release. But the producers have already started selling the theatrical rights of Kaala in various other languages. And the results are shockingly super amazing. They are getting very good prices for their rights.
LYCA bags the distribution rights
LYCA is already the producer for Rajinikanth‘s mega-budget movie, 2.0. And they are also distributing Dhanush’s Vada Chennai. So this time as well, LYCA has come on-board for taking over the distribution of Kaala. The idea for the same was pitched by Dhanush since LYCA can ensure the worldwide release of the movie.
Problems in selling rights for Telugu dubbed version
Kaala is the bilingual movie, made in Tamil and Hindi. It will be dubbed in Telugu. LYCA will take care of rights of Hindi and Tamil version. But the producers are finding it difficult to sell rights for Telugu version. They are quoting a whopping figure of Rs. 40 Crores for Telugu version of the movie. And none of the distributors are willing to pay upto that amount for a dubbed movie. And considering it will clash with Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun’s Telugu movies, producers are finding it even more difficult.
The Telugu rights for Rajnikanth’s 2.0 have been sold at Rs. 75 Crores. And considering the fact that Rajnikanth’s another strong area after Tamil Nadu is Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, yet no distributors are coming forward for Kaala. We would have to wait for final news regarding who took the distribution rights for Telugu version of the movie.
Rajnikanth is now entering into the political arena. With him starting his own political party, he has already been in news a lot recently. And his movie Kaala will also be dealing with politics. So, there are very high expectations from the movie performing excellently at the Worldwide box office.
