Thara Thappattai is a Karagattam dance troupe, headed by a man named Sannasi. An alcoholic Sooravali, the lead dancer of the troupe, falls in love with Sannasi. Meanwhile, while they are struggling to keep the dance troupe alive, Sooravali gets a marriage proposal from her fan, Karuppiah. Impressed with Karuppiah’s govt. job, Sannasi and Sooravali’s mother convince her to agree to the marriage. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
