It seems Raees and controversies are going hands in hands. Earlier it was for casting a Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in the lead role and now the controversy is being started for glorifying a dreaded real life criminal in the movie. The movie has been released on Wednesday in various theaters across India but Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Gujarat Unit of Shiv Sena have sought a ban on Raees claiming the movie is based on the life of Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Abdul Latif who is been projected in the movie as a hero.

According to them, Abdul Latif was a bootlegger and Mafia Don and instead of highlighting that police officer who restrained Latif, the makers have highlighted Abdul Latif’s character that has been played by Shah Rukh Khan.

Not just that rather they have also claimed that police must book Khan for sedition for making this kind of movie. Even though Shah Rukh Khan and Excel Entertainment have said that the movie is based on a fictional character but VHP and Shiv Sena did not believe to them at all and demonstrated their protest by shouting slogans outside various theaters in Valsad.
