Rangoon has hit the theaters on last Friday with huge buzz but unfortunately, the outcome is not as expected so far. This Vishal Bhardwaj directorial is a romantic period film about which the audiences had high expectation. However, despite good reviews from the critics the movie could not manage to earn even Rs. 20 crores in its opening weekend. The first-weekend collection of Rangoon is Rs. 18.25 crores which is much lesser than other Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali khan movie.
Rangoon was made on a budget of Rs. 70 crores, so in order to be called it as hit, the movie needs to collect at least Rs. 85 crores. The opening weekend collection was expected to reach Rs. 30 crores at least, but the collection is really not well. Another movie Jolly LLB 2 that is still running in the theaters is doing well at the box office even though it reached the third week.
Commando 2 is again set to release this coming Friday. So, Rangoon will have to face another competition from that movie as well.
However, let’s see if this Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut starring movie can do some magic in the weekdays.
