The upcoming biopic on Rani Laxmibai featuring Kangana Ranaut is already creating a buzz in the town after the announcement of ‘Manikarnika’. Taking this to another extent, Rani Laxmibai will also be played on an international platform. Besides ‘Manikarnika’, one more movie is scheduled to release soon that would feature the Queen of Jhansi.
Swati Bhise who last directed ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’ is all set to come up with her new project based on Rani Laxmibai. The title of her new upcoming film will be “Swords & Scepters”. Charles Salmon (producer of ‘The Darkest Hour’) will be helping Swati in directing, writing & producing this film.
Historical Characters in Various Movies
We have seen numerous Bollywood movies so far that featured characters from our Indian history. Some of the historical characters that came alive through our films are Ashoka, Jodha-Akbar, Bajirao and many more. The success of these movies has been a proof that the audience loves to watch movies that are based on facts and history.
And now, the filmmakers have decided to pick one more character from History, Rani Laxmibai. She had a very strong personality that portrayed women empowerment in a male-dominated era. So apart from the movie Manikarnika, even International directors have decided to bring her character in front of the whole world.
Laxmibai’s Look is the special concern
Since it’s highly based on Indian history & tradition, the team members have worked more on Rani Laxmibai’s whole look. For that, more than 50 specially designed costumes, ‘Nauwari’, have been ordered. Nauwari is the traditional nine-yard Maharashtrian Saree. To match this costume, custom footwear has also been designed. And to complete Laxmibai’s look, a special ‘Khopa’ is designed which complements the whole getup.
Keeping the success of previous historic movies in mind, the filmmakers are hoping that these movies will also be huge hits at the box office.
