Another major movie released this weekend, Salman Khan starrer Tubelight. Just like the previous releases of Salman Khan, this movie is also released to mark an auspicious occasion of Eid, the favorite festival for all Muslim bhaijaans. This movie had been directed by Kabir Khan and received a good opening on Friday.
However, unlike Salman Khan’s other movies, this movie failed to gain enough attention and love. His previous movie releases on Eid and their first-day collections are as follows:
- Ek Tha Tiger (2012): 32.93 Crores
- Kick(2014): 26.40 Crores
- Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015): 27.25 Crores
- Sultan(2016): 36.54 Crores
- Tubelight(2017): 21.15 Crores
Evidently, Tubelight received a very dim opening as compared to Salman Khan’s previous 4 movies. Directed by Kabir Khan, this movie also stars Sohail Khan and the Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. It is set in the backdrop of the Sino-Indian war of 1962. It received very mixed reviews from all the leading critics. According to the leading movie reviewer Taran Adarsh, #Tubelight is body beautiful, minus soul. He calls the movie disappointing.
The best thing about this movie is Om Puri. This movie marks his last performance in cinema. Om Puri has been one of the most wonderful actors produced by Bollywood cinema. And his delivery in this movie has been fabulous.
Even though the movie received a low opening, this movie is expected to recover soon, considering the fact that it is a long weekend for the film with Eid falling on Monday. After all, Eid has always been in favor of our beloved Bhaijaan and has always reaped great revenue at the box office for him. The numbers are expected to grow soon enough.
