Baahubali 2 is in no mood to slow down. It continues to go on a bumper ride on its 2nd weekend as well. It has shattered all records till date by grossing Rs. 1000 crore worldwide.
It continued to collect Rs. 40 crores on its second Friday. Its Saturday collections stand at more than 46 Crores and 68 Crores on Sunday, whopping a total of 154 Crores on its weekend no. 2. This is the maximum for any movie’s second weekend collections. It’s 2nd Sunday grossings (Hindi: Rs. 32.7 Crores) have set up a new upbeat record by beating Dangal, which collected Rs 32.4 Crores on 2nd Sunday.
The hindi version of the film (Total Rs. 328 crores by 2nd weekend) has smashed all the existing records of the biggest blockbusters till date. This includes Salman Khan-starrer Sultan (Rs. 237 Crores) and Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal (Rs. 271 crores). The film released in multiple languages, not only showed amazing performance in South, but is also received well all over the world.
Interestingly, Baahubali 2 (Total of Rs. 680 Crores across India) has till now grossed Rs. 400 Crore more than its predecessor: Baahubali: The beginning (Rs. 300 Crores). It has been a highly awaited film after the phenomenal success of Baahubali. This had people flocking to theatres in large numbers to get their question answered: “Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?”
And with this, as declared by the ace director S.S. Rajamouli on twitter, the work with ‘Baahubali’ franchise is officially over. Truly, with this announcement, the most unforgettable era of Telugu cinema comes to an end.
