Priyanka Chopra’s latest film, Jai Gangaajal, with a similar yet different story line referring as a sequel to the 2003 hit Gangaajal has had a lower than average start at its launch on Friday. The movie is an account of a Superintendent of police SP Abha Mathur, being transferred to a new constituency where she faces dangers both in and out of her department. Her righteous and courageous take to the situations that arise works as a pivot for the film.
After starting comparatively much slower than Priyanka’s last screener, Mary Kom, it’s safe to say that the movie’s total first weekend collection were lower than the previous Priyanka Chopra film. Jai Gangaajal collected around Rs. 14 cr in its first weekend. Against popular belief, PC’s international stardom was not able to help the cause much as Indian audience did not pay heed to her diverse career moves. Although the film did decent business in UP, Bihar and CI, over all it is considered to be a below average start.
