With the beginning of a new year, the audience set new hopes for the year 2018. But the inception of the year disappoints all moviegoers. The new releases namely Mukkabaaz, 1921, and Kaalakaandi fail to impress the audience in their first weekend. The last year release Tiger Zinda Hai is doing well even in the fourth week Let’s analyse Kaalakaandi, Mukkabaaz, and 1921 Monday collection early estimates in details. Also, at what level they stand in comparison to the holdover release Tiger Zinda Hai.
Poor Opening – Heading Towards Disaster
All the three new releases namely Kaalakaandi, Mukkabaaz, and 1921 started poorly at the box office. Among the three movies, Kaalakaandi fared lowest on its opening weekend and also witnessed the lowest growth. While Mukkabaaz and 1921 sailed better than it. The first-weekend collection of Mukkabaaz is lower than 1921 but it showed the highest growth among the three films. However, 1921 did earn more than the other two but its performance is lower than the first two films of the same franchise.
Competition from Tiger Zinda Hai
Kaalakaandi, Mukkabaaz and 1921 faced a stiff competition from the holdover release Tiger Zinda Hai. Salman Khan’s TZH has maintained its dominance even in the fourth weekend. With this kind of poor performance by all the three new films, they are not expected to do well in their first week. In other words, they are heading towards the list of flop films.
Collection Updates:
KaalaKaandi earned Rs. 3.85 crores in its first weekend, which is the lowest collection of the three films. On Monday it is not expected to show similar number, which simply means another flop film of Saif Ali Khan after Chef. Mukkabaaz did show growth over Saturday and Sunday to collect Rs. 4.04 crores in its first three days. But not succeeded in attracting a good number of footfalls to its theaters.
The third film, 1921 showed the highest collection among the three. It stands at Rs. 6.45 crores but its collection is lower than Tiger Zinda Hai 4th weekend collection. The 4th day is going to repeat the similar story for the new films. We will update you on the latest updates of the movies as soon as it is out. For more box office news, keep reading BOTY.
