The much anticipated movie Rangoon that was expected to open with great reviews and occupancy unfortunately witnessed very poor result overall. This is a period romantic drama starring Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan that is set during the Second World War. The movie collected only Rs. 6.07 crores on its opening day, however, eyes were on the weekend. But the weekend too could not add much to the box office figure and as usual the weekdays saw even more poor business.
Rangoon has witnessed around 79% fall in the occupancy during weekdays compared to the opening day and has raked a business of only Rs. 1.10 crores on its 6th day. So, this Kangana Ranaut movie could not entertain us like other movies from her such as Queen and Tanu Weds Manu.
Commando 2 is set to hit theaters coming Friday, so Rangoon needs to face competition from that movie also. As of now, the total box office collection of the movie reached to Rs. 21.07 crores in the domestic market. If the same trend keeps going, then it is very hard for the movie to cover its expenses.
Overall, this Vishal Bhardwaj directorial could not make it to the box office the way it was expected.
