Sajjan Singh Rangroot is the major Punjabi release of this month. The movie released on the Shaheedi Diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The hype for this film was quite good but if failed to convert at the box office. The First Day Collection of Sajjan Singh Rangroot was very average as the film opened at Rs. 1.25 crores net. This is very poor opening considering the film got decent screen space in Delhi-NCR as well.
This film is based on real events from World War 1 and stars the most popular Punjabi actor – Diljit Dosanjh. Even the charm of Diljit wasn’t able to ensure a good opening. Keeping this in mind, we can say that people go out in larger numbers when a typical Punjabi comedy film has released.
2nd Day Collection Update
The 2nd day is seeing some major improvement in the collection. There is a 15-20% jump from Friday, and overall if the trend continues Saturday may end up at 1.50 crores net or more. But this is also much lower than the expectations from this film.
There is no significant competition from Bollywood as well. As this week’s major release, Hichki failed to impress the audience as well. Raid, which is the holdover release from last week continues to do well and will come out the winner this weekend at the box office.
