The Biggest Christmas Release of the World this year is Star Wars – The last Jedi. The film has been very well received by the critics and audiences alike. Even though the franchise has a strong following in India, it has failed to convert into box office collection.
Star Wars has been doing very well at the Overseas Box office and it has collected a staggering amount of Rs. 3000 Crores plus at the worldwide box office. Let’s take a look at how the film is performing in various international markets. The Collection has been updated for first 4 days of the film.
- USA – Rs. 1590 crores
- UK – Rs. 264 crores
- South Africa – Rs. 3.3 crores
- Australia – Rs. 110 crores
- New Zealand – Rs. 15 crores
- Italy – Rs. 40 crores
- India – Rs. 9 crores
As we can see the film is strong in US, UK & Australia only, while most other countries are weak. The film has an estimated budget of around Rs. 1600 crores, which it will easily recover.

The revenue of such movies is very high from product sales. Hence recovering a budget is not a problem for star wars. The film is likely to exceed the 5000 crores mark before Dec 31 which is excellent. Other Hollywood Movies which have surpassed the 5000 crores mark are Avatar, Avengers and more.
