Toilet Ek Prem Katha has started off really well at the box office and the film is expected to put up a fantastic total by the end of the day. This movie is the last hope of this season at Bollywood. All eyes are on Akshay Kumar starrer TEPK First day collection as this movie attempts to eliminate the dry run of some big movies at the box office.
Poor Phase after Baahubali
All Major Movies which have released at the box office have fared very poorly and 2 of those biggest movies are:
- Tubelight – A Flop Movie from Salman Khan after a really long time. Tubelight movie caused losses for distributors and Salman Khan refunded nearly 32.5 crores to the distributors as a good gesture.
- Jab Harry Met Sejal – A Shah Rukh Khan starrer and people had high hopes for this one. But it couldn’t do any significant business in India. Its overseas collections were best of the year.
Now let’s analyze how well Toilet (EPK) should open.
Last Few Movies of Akshay Kumar
- Airlift – Rs. 11 crores
- Housefull 3 – 15 crores
- Rustom – Rs. 13.5 crores
- Jolly LLB 2 – Rs. 12 crores
All these movies were hit at the BO. If TEPK has a day 1 similar to Housefull 3 then it would be excellent considering the upcoming holidays this week. Therefore, would be a major success for the movie.
The director of this movie is a newcomer and there is no guarantee of his skills. This is something time will tell and Akshay has worked with many debutant directors before and produced positive results. We hope this director does the same.
TEPK First Day Collection Updates
Prediction (1 Am, Friday): As per our Prediction the first day would be around Rs. 13 crores net. More details about the movie and early estimates would be available after morning shows. Do check back BOTY.
Update 1 (12:15 pm, Friday): The Prediction is holding up. The film has opened above 35% Occupancy for Morning shows. Likely to pick up by the evening. The final collections could be more than 13 as well.
Update 2: (10:30 am, Saturday): The Early Numbers are now in. The First-day figure stands at Rs. 12.55 crores. This is a decent figure. There might be little adjustments to this amount when more data is available.
Final Update: Final collections are here and better than the previous figure. It’s Rs. 13.10 crores net.
