Kaabil and Raees both movies opened at the box office today and this is considerably one of the biggest clash of Bollywood. And the winner today is not one single movie, but the film industry. If such a clash happened a few years ago, the screen division would seriously dent the collections of one particular movie. But today, with the capacity of over 5000+ premium screens it is still possible for 2 movies to release together and do solid collections.
As per the opening reports, we stated that both films are looking to go over Rs. 15 crores. But as the day progressed and more data available it seems that only Raees would cross that mark. As per early estimates, Raees first day box office collections are looking to come around 21 crores net. The figure may go higher considering the possible jump in evening shows as 26th is a holiday.
Hrithik Roshan‘s Kaabil might have underperformed a little in terms of revenue. Although, Kaabil does have a much lower screen count than Raees, but it also reported lesser occupancy percentage. But that should not be a problem for Kaabil as the early reports suggest people are liking the movie and word of mouth is very positive.
Kaabil’s day 1 collections can come anywhere between Rs. 8 to 11 crores net. Its still early to predict the actual figure, as this movie is likely to see a major upward trend in the evening shows.
