The release date of Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha due for release on June 2 has been postponed to August 11. The postponed date also happens to be the release date for Shahrukh’s Rehnuma.
Here is what the trade analysts have to say:
Akshay’s movies are doing quite well lately and all of them seem to have reached the 100 crore mark while Shahrukh Khan seems to have got a mediocre response.
This is not the first time their movies have clashed. Back in 1993 Shahrukh’s Maya Memsaab and Akshay’s Waqt Hamara Hai were released together. Also Chennai Express was released a week before Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara.
According to Akshaye Rathi, Akshay will grab the fame in India while Shahrukh will rock in international screens. Both stars have powerful distributors which equals the clash. The ultimate win would be decided by the content of the movies.
Amul Vikas Mohan, Super Cinema Editor, suggests that there should be more screens in India which would help in predicting the box-office outcome. The industry releases 200 movies on an average in a year and has just 52 weeks to release them.
Akshay and Shahrukh are both wonderful actors. They have their own style and their own fan following. The date of the movie releases fall near August 15. There will be long weekend and both the movies can be enjoyed by the audience.
