Both the films are directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and cast Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Shahid Kapoor is the New Addition to Padmavat.
Bajirao Mastani was not a solo release and faced a stiff competition from Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer Dilwale in the year 2015. But it did better than the latter movie. On the other hand, Padmaavat was a solo release but it faced a lot of hurdles in the path of its release.
Bajirao Mastani was a peaceful release and gained laurels from the audience. But Padmaavat turned out to be one of the controversial films of Indian cinema history. Despite the strong protest the film, it performs well at the box office. And the hype before its release gave benefit to the film.
Bajirao Mastani arrived at the box office on a normal weekend but Padmaavat released on an extended weekend. Also, the paid previous before its official release filled its basket with a good amount of money. Since Padmaavat is a big budget film than Bajirao Mastani, so it would be interesting to whether it would be able to earn a more profit than Bajirao Mastani.
To Summarize, Bajirao Mastani released alongside an SRK Starrer, had a normal weekend. Bajirao had the advantage of multiple holidays of Christmas & New Years. Padmavat had an extended weekend, released solo but didn’t get a full release in 4 states.
