OK Jaanu and Aashiqui 2 are virtually the same movies if you take the cast and genre in consideration. Aashiqui 2 was a super-hit when it released and it was the biggest hits of that year. Aashiqui 2 had a blockbuster music album, which is still very popular(3 years later).
The comparison between these 2 films will be very interesting and fun. Let’s first see what has changed in the last 4 Years. When Aashiqui 2 released, Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor were newcomers. Advantage -> Freshness. Disadvantage -> Limited Fan Following. But time has changed since then. Now these both are well-known actors if not very established.
Shraddha has worked in many successful movies including Ek Villain, Haider, ABCD 2. While ARK has had success with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, his other ventures including Fitoor and Daawat-e-Ishq have been disasters.
Aashiqui 2 was a sequel to the hit 90s film, so that was also an advantage. OK Jaanu has the advantage that it is coming from Dharma Productions(Karan Johar) and has the same pair which made Aashiqui 2 a hit.
