Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat already faced a lot of controversy before its release. But even after getting a permission from Supreme Court, it still has to deal with many obstacles in its path. A few days earlier, Rajasthan CM banned movie Padmavat from its release in the state. The CM cited about the honor of Rani Padmavat and called its release a disrespect of Rani Padmini’s sacrifices.
After facing a lot of opposition before its screening, the film is arriving at the theaters on 25 January. It had undergone a change of name from “Padmavati” to “Padmavat”. The Rajput groups of Rajasthan are threatening the nation because of the release of the film. They have a complaint of “distortion with the history” against the filmmakers and warn of violent protest if Padmavat releases.
Ban in various states
As stated earlier, the movie has already been banned in Rajasthan. After some days, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also declared a ban on the movie. Now again, another state imposed a ban on its release. Yes, we are talking the recent ban on Padmavat by the Gujarat government. The Chief Minister said that he could not allow the film to hit the theatres in the state because of the law and order issues that may arise ahead of the assembly polls.
However, Uttar Pradesh government has a different stand on this. The CM of the state said, if the necessary changes are made in the film and the censor board has given its permission to the film, then they have no point of banning the film.
Let’s hope no other state announces its ban on the film’s release. And it would be interesting to watch what reaction would the film receive from rest of the audience.
