Synopsis

In the 16th century, the Mughal emperor Akbar agrees to marry the princess Jodha to seal an alliance. Unwilling to be a pawn, Jodha refuses to consummate the marriage unless Akbar makes all religions equal in his empire. Meanwhile, rebellion looms on the horizon.

Movie Reception

Jodhaa Akbar earned well on its opening day and also enjoyed the audience's support over the first weekend. Also, it dropped on decent grounds on the weekdays which helped the film to collect over Rs. 20 crores in its first week.

In the second week, the film dropped by 40% from the week 1 which ensured around Rs. 13 crores in its pocket. The trend remained similar in the third week also and the period drama movie ended its journey at the box office with a lifetime collection of Rs. 56 crores in the domestic market.

Jodhaa Akbar received a "semi-hit" status in the domestic market. However, it performed exceptionally well in the overseas and collected an excellent amount of money which declared it a blockbuster movie in the overseas.
