Synopsis

The story of Vikram Singh, a spy who in 1991 becomes in entangled in the Sri Lankan Civil War. Through a British journalist, Vikram learns of a plot by Tamil resistance fighters to assassinate former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Madras Cafe opened well and earned around Rs. 5 crores on its first day. Due to the positive critics' review and word of mouth, it witnessed an excellent growth and crossed Rs. 20 crores mark over the first weekend. The stronghold of the film on the weekdays ensured a total of Rs. 32 crores in the first week.

It remained strong in the second week and collected Rs. 44 crores in its lifetime. The overseas earning of the film crossed Rs. 20 crores which ensured a worldwide total of Rs. 67 crores in its lifetime. It turned out to be one of the best Hindi films of all time.
