Synopsis

Janardan, born and brought up in a middle-class family, dreams of becoming a famous rockstar one day. But all he gets in return is mocking and humiliation. Soon he realizes that to become a famous rockstar, one needs to go through some tragedy. But alas, he has none in his life. In the hope of getting a heartbreak, he starts following Heer to woo her. Heer is the diva of the college who has rejected many guys. He ultimately reaches the peak he always dreamt of, but at a much larger cost.

Movie Reception

Rockstar took a strong opening and received an excellent response especially from the youth audience. The film fared well in the first week and made a collection of around Rs. 48 crores. However, after a strong earning in the week 1, the film witnessed a major fall on the second Friday and earned on low note over the second weekend.

Ranbir Kapoor's film remained low on the weekdays and the second week showed a big drop of 67% from the first week. The earning degraded further in the third week and the film only managed to collect Rs. 69 crores in its lifetime.

Rockstar could really perform well in the overseas and received below average response in the overseas market. The music of the film received excellent reviews and contributed a lot to the film's earning.
