Synopsis

Rahul and Anjali were two best friends at college. Anjali realizes that she has fallen for Rahul but she’s too late because Rahul has already fallen for someone else, Tina. Heartbroken, Anjali leaves the city. Tina and Rahul get married and soon Tina gives birth to a daughter which they call Anjali. Tina soon passes away after giving birth to the child. Tina left Anjali one letter for each of her birthdays. Through these letters she learns that her mother (Tina) knew that another Anjali was in love with Rahul, and vows to bring them together again.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is the highest grossing Hindi film of 1998 in the domestic as well as the overseas market. The film took an excellent start and earned well around Rs. 2.75 crores in its first three days at the box office. It held strong on the weekdays and collected strongly in the second as well as third week.

Also, it didn't drop on much in its lifetime which helped it to take its total earning near Rs. 50 crores in the domestic market. And the huge number of footfalls in the overseas theatres ensured it's earning over Rs. 50 crores outside which enabled the film to enter Rs. 100 crores club at that time.
